There is no question that displaying at a trade show is one of the best ways for both small and big businesses to market the products or services they offer. No other type of advertising tool will allow you to set up a booth and have prospective buyers coming to you. However, in order to ensure success at your trade show event, it is essential that you avoid the most common mistakes that are made. These mistakes are highlighted here.

Choosing the Wrong Show

There are far too many exhibitors that register for every trade fair and event that comes their way, with the misconception that this will increase their success. While you may get more exposure, you will not get the results that are offered by a targeted, niche specific trade show. This may mean that you only sign up for one event in every 20, but the results will provide the best ROI possible.

Unclear Signage

Another thing that you need to avoid is not putting up clear signs that let you know who you are and what you have to offer. While there may be people interested in what you have to offer, if you do not clearly let them know what this is with your signage, they will not ever stop. The signage you use for your display is an essential part of your booth and one of the first things that trade show attendees are going to notice.

Creating a Dull Exhibit

An effective display system does not have to be extremely expensive; however, it should offer some type of gift or activity that grabs and holds the trade show attendees attention. This can include promotional products, drawings, games, presentations or demonstrations. This will help you create a unique appeal that will ensure your audience wants to come and stay in your booth.

Not Following Up

Not all of the visitors that stop at your display system will be ready to make a purchase. However, they may be interested in what you offer after the event. It is important that you contact these individuals about a week after the show to let them know that you appreciate their time. You can do this by a quick email or call. When you follow up, there is a much higher likelihood that they will be ready to do business with you.
